About Us :
|
From a sleepy fishing village, Pulau Redang (Redang Island) has grown into one of the most popular tourist destinations on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The reefs of the Redang archipelago are home to over 55 genera of corals and 100 species of fish. Every year, Pulau Redang attracts thousands of visitors who come to enjoy the sun, beaches and spectacular marine life.
The Redang archipelago, located off the coast of Terengganu state, comprises Pulau Redang (Redang Island), Pulau Pinang (Pinang Island), Pulau Ling (Ling Island), Pulau Ekor Tebu (Ekor Tebu Island), Pulau Kerengga Besar (Kerengga Besar Island), Pulau Kerengga Kecil (Kerengga Kecil Island), Pulau Paku Besar (Paku Besar Island), Pulau Paku Kecil (Paku Kecil Island) and Pulau Lima (Lima Island). This group of islands boasts white sandy beaches, spectacular coral reefs and crystal clear waters, making it one of the best dive spots in the world.
The waters surrounding the Redang group of islands have been the second area to be gazetted as a Marine Park following Pulau Payar in Kedah. The park headquarters is located on Pulau Pinang which is off the main jetty of Pulau Redang.

Express buses are available from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu; the Mutiara Express, Sutera Express, SE Warisan Express and Transnasional. All can be boarded at the Putra Bus Station. From the Kuala Terengganu bus station, you can get the services of a hired car to the Merang jetty at a rate of RM40 for a car.
From the jetty, there are a few services of speedboats to choose from to the island at only RM80 for a return fare. The journey to the island from here takes about 40 minutes.
For those who are seeking for a well-planned holiday to Redang Island, there are tour agencies to the island. The Redang Camp Site offers a package that arranges for boats and accommodations on the island. However, if you prefer to travel on your own from Kuala Lumpur, take the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway to Kuala Terengganu. And if you’re driving from the south, the Segamat-Muadzam Shah route to Kuantan is the route to take; before heading on to Kuala Terengganu.
From Kuala Terengganu, head to the Merang jetty located about 40 minutes away. But if you’re coming from the north, ply the east-west route to Jerteh. From there, take the road to the Setiu District before and proceeding to Penarik and subsequently reaching Merang jetty.
